- What are MPSS Conversions?
SonicWall has launched the ability to convert an existing TPSS/EPSS/APSS subscription to a Managed Protection Security Suite (MPSS) subscription, thereby enabling the firewall to be fully managed by the SonicSentry NOC team. This is made possible with the MPSS Conversion SKUs. - What firewalls are eligible for the MPSS Conversion SKUs?
Only Generation 7 TZ and NSa firewalls that have active entitlements for TPSS/EPSS/APSS are eligible to be converted with the MPSS Conversion SKUs. - What MPSS Conversion SKUs are available?
The MPSS is an offering that can only be purchased by partners who are members of the SonicWall Service Provider Program (SPP). SPP Partners can place orders for MPSS Conversions based on the model of firewall (TZ or NSa) they want to convert and the remaining term on the firewall (Less than 6 Months, 6-12 Months and More than 12 Months).
TIP: As a promotional offer, the price of conversion is agnostic to the specific model of the eligible firewall and to the type of active security service on the firewall subscription. E.g for a TZ 270 Firewall with active EPSS and a TZ 570 with active APSS, the same MPSS Conversion SKU at the same price can be purchased (1 for each) as long as they are both have similar remaining terms. - How does the MPSS Conversion Work?
When a partner purchases an MPSS Conversion SKU, they are provided with an activation key. When this activation key is applied to an eligible firewall, the existing security service (TPSS/EPSS/APSS) is expired and the MPSS service is activated with an expiration date that matches the expiration date of the previous security service.
E.g. if the eligible firewall has an active APSS license expiring on 31st December 2027, then when the activation key is applied, the APSS license is expired and the MPSS license is activated with an expiry date of 31st December 2027.
CAUTION:The activation key MUST map to an MPSS Conversion SKU that matches the remaining term on the firewall. E.g. if an eligible firewall has 6 months remaining, and an activation key is purchased for an MPSS “More than 12 Months” Conversion SKU, then the activation key cannot be applied to the firewall. - Can the MPSS Conversion SKU be used to extend the duration of an active MPSS License?
No, the MPSS Conversion SKU is only used to convert an active license for TPSS/EPSS/APSS to MPSS -
Are there MPSS Conversion SKUs for NSvs or Generation 8 Firewalls?
At this time, SonicWall is not offering MPSS Conversion SKUs for NSvs or any Generation 8 firewalls that are supported by MPSS. Stay tuned for updates to this article when those are made available.
