How to setup and check scheduled FTP backup from CLI

Description

This article applies to SonicWall Email Security devices only.

CLI access allows for configuration of scheduled FTP backup to a external FTP server. Scheduled FTP backup allows users to create a backup of the most recent configuration in preset intervals.

Resolution

Log in to the CLI (Command Line Interface) as snwlcli, provide the admin username and password.

To check the current schedule status, execute the following command:
SNWLCLI> scheduledbackup

The current configuration will be output as shown below:

 

ImageIn order to configure a parameter, its key name and corresponding value needs to be set at a time. Only one parameter can be set at a time.

Following example represents how to change IP / FQDN using scheduledbackup command:

ImageAvailable values are:

duration               values = daily, weekly, monthly
day_of_month     values = 1 - 31
day_of_week       values = Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
hour_of_day        values = 12AM - 11PM
ip_fqdn                values = IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name
port                      values = 21 is default port, but custom port can be set if configured on FTP server
path                     value = path to the share on FTP, ie. / means home (root) directory of FTP server
settings                value = no / yes - exports configuration
junkbox                value = no / yes - exports quarantine
archive                 value = no / yes - exports archive
reports_data        value = no / yes - exports reports data
