Configuring SonicWall appliances to respond to ping from the Internet

Description

By default, SonicWall appliances do not respond to ping requests from the Internet. The settings below allow ping requests from the Internet to your SonicWall.


Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.


  1. Navigate to NETWORK | Interfaces | X1 (WAN).
  2. Check on Ping
  3. Click OK

Resolution for SonicOS 6.5

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

  1. Navigate to Manage | Network | Interfaces | X1 (WAN).
  2. Check on Ping.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click Accept at the bottom of the page. SonicOS will automatically create access rules for Ping service.Image
