Access Points

The Devices > Access Points are part of your Network Hierarchy hosting the Client Devices (the phones and computers that communicate through them).

The Access Points page provides configuration and management details about access points. In the Access Points tab, all the SonicWave access points registered under your MySonicWall account are listed in a table and below are the columns in the table

  • Status: The status can be online, Offline or Unmanaged.

  • Device Name:

    If your Access Point was newly registered in MySonicWall, then it will appear as unmanaged in the Access Points and Switches Management inventory. When you hover over such unmanaged devices a tool tip message "This device needs to be assigned to a Zone to start management from WNM" will be displayed.

    If your firmware needs upgrading, a blue icon is displayed to the left of the AP name. Hover over the icon, and it will show as "New product firmware available".

  • MSW Device Name

  • Tags

  • Country/Region

  • IP Address

  • Licensed:

    Hover over the Licensed column to view the License Type for a given device

    • Annual License

      • Basic

      • Advanced

      • CATP only

      • CAV only

      • CFS only

    • Monthly License

      • AP - Essential/Advanced

      • Switch - Essential

  • Location/Zone:

    Provides the information on Location/Zone to which the device is assigned to. If the status of device is Unmanaged then there will be an option to assign the device to a Zone.

    Click on the Assign Zone icon to open the "Assign AP to a Zone" pop-up and select zone to assign and click OK to save the changes.


  • AP Policy

  • SSL-VPN:

    The SSL-VPN column will have a symbol with the letter S and its color coded as mentioned below

    • Green - The SSL-VPN is connected

    • Red - The SSL-VPN is disconnected

    • Gray - The SSL-VPN is disabled.

  • Radios

There is a filter icon on the left which lets you choose the devices to be displayed.

The middle panel shows the Network structure with the Status summary of each of the access points:

  • With the AP managed, you will have options as Online, Offline, and Unmanaged.
  • License information
  • Model information

The SSL-VPN column in the bottom chart shows a colored S to show whether SSL VPN is enabled or not for that device. If the S is:

  • Green - The SSL VPN is connected.
  • Red - The SSL VPN is disconnected.
  • Gray - The SSL VPN is disabled.

The different types of licenses include:

  • Annual License

    • Basic

    • Advanced

    • CATP Only

    • CAV Only

    • CFS Only

  • Monthly License

    • AP - Essentail/Advanced

    • Switch- Essential

Toolbar options

The toolbar above the table has the below options.

Option Description
Click this icon to Add devices to a zone.
Click this icon to Upgrade the selected devices.
Click this icon to Edit the selected device.
Click this icon to Export data into an Excel or PDF file.
Click this icon to Refresh or reload the page.
Click this icon to select the required columns. This helps you to view or hide the selected columns.

To Filter Access Points

Click the filter icon to view the available filters.

When you hover over a device in the table the configuration options appear on the right side.
