Configuring SSH Access

A SonicWall firewall can be managed directly through a Secure Shell (SSH) connection. You need to enable SSH management on each interface. Use these steps to minimize remote access risks:

  1. Navigate to Network > System > Interfaces and select the interface to configure for SSH.

  2. Select the General tab for the interface.
  3. Under the MANAGEMENT section, enable SSH.
  4. To set the service port if it should be different from the default:

    1. Navigate to Device > Administration.
    2. Select the Management tab.
    3. Update the SSH Port field in the SSH MANAGEMENT SETTINGS section.
  5. Restrict inbound SSH access to particular hosts or networks by setting a firewall access rule.

    1. Navigate to Policy > Rules and Policies > Access Rules.
    2. Select +Add at the bottom of the screen.
    3. Create a rule that limits SSH access. This text in the following image is just an example; your rule will likely be different.
