The SMA7210 appliance includes dedicated 10Gb SFP+ network interfaces that can be enabled for higher bandwidth connectivity. By default, SMA7210 appliances operate using the built-in 1Gb interfaces (X0/X1). Enabling the 10Gb interfaces changes the appliance networking configuration and management accessibility.
This article describes how to safely enable the 10Gb SFP+ interfaces and avoid loss of management access during the transition.
Before enabling the 10Gb interfaces, ensure the following:
Important: Management access should be validated over the 10Gb interface before committing the configuration change.
Log in to the Appliance Management Console (AMC).
Navigate to:
System > Settings > Network
Locate the Enable 10Gb Interface option.
Configure the desired network settings for the 10Gb SFP+ interface, including:
Verify that the connected network can successfully communicate with the configured 10Gb interface.
Select Accept.
Select Commit to apply the change (changes take effect immediately after the commit operation.)
When the Enable 10Gb Interface option is enabled and the configuration is committed, the appliance automatically performs several hardware-level network changes:
