How to Resolve the Security Contact Required Banner in UM?

Description

Partners and end-users of the Unified Management (UM) platform may see a banner at the top of the Dashboard stating "Security Contact Required." This article explains why this is required and provides step-by-step instructions for resolving it.

Why This Is Needed

SonicWall requires each organization to designate at least one Security Contact. This contact receives email notifications related to security advisories and vulnerability notices for the organization's account. Designating a Security Contact ensures your organization is promptly informed of security-relevant issues so you can respond and remediate proactively.

Until a Security Contact is added, the "Security Contact Required" banner will continue to display at the top of the UM Dashboard.

How to Resolve the Banner

  1. From the UM Dashboard, locate the yellow "Security Contact Required" banner at the top of the page. Click the Security Contact Settings link.

Note: Clicking this link navigates you to the My Account screen.
  2. Under MY Account, navigate to MY PROFILE | Organization Settings | Contacts and click ADD.
Note: This section will show "No Data" if no contacts have been added yet.
  3. Clicking Add opens the Add New Contact Person modal. Complete the following fields:

    • Contact Type: Select Security Contact from the dropdown.
    • First Name: Enter the contact's first name.
    • Last Name: Enter the contact's last name.
    • Email: Enter the contact's email address. This is the address that will receive security and vulnerability notices.
    • Click Add to Save the contact.
  4. Once a Security Contact has been added, the Security Contact Required banner will no longer display on the UM Dashboard.

Additional Notes

  • Organizations can add more than one contact of different types (for example, billing or general contacts) in addition to the Security Contact.
  • The Security Contact does not need to be a UM platform user; it only needs to be a valid email address that should receive security notices.
  • If the banner persists after adding a Security Contact, refresh the Dashboard or log out and back in.

How to Delete an Existing Contact

Contacts, including Security Contacts, can be removed from the Contacts list at any time. This process is the same for all contact types (for example, Renewal Contacts and Security Contacts).

  • From the My Account screen, navigate to the Contacts section. Find the contact you want to remove, and click the trash can icon in the Action column for that row.

  • A confirmation modal will appear. For a Security Contact, this will display as Delete Security Contact and will warn that the contact will no longer receive security or vulnerability-related emails.

  • Click Delete to confirm and remove the contact, or click Cancel to keep it.

Note: If you delete your organization's only Security Contact, the Security Contact Required banner will reappear on the UM Dashboard until a new Security Contact is added.
