Network Security Services Comprehensive Gateway Security Suite Bundle

Regardless of their size, today's organizations are concerned with enhancing network security and increasing employee productivity. Small business networks have to protect themselves against the same types of attacks as those faced by larger networks, and enterprises have to deal with the costs and complexities of their own internal processes. The Dell™ SonicWALL™ Comprehensive Gateway Security Suite (CGSS) is the solution for businesses of all sizes, with Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention, plus Application Intelligence and Control Service, Content Filtering Service, ViewPoint™ Reporting Software, and 24x7 technical support.

Greater return on your security investment.

Dell SonicWALL CGSS combines security, productivity and support in a single solution with a low cost of ownership that provides an increased ROI compared with buying each of the services individually. Available on the Dell SonicWALL TZ Series and on the Network Security Appliance (NSA) and E-Class NSA Series firewalls, CGSS turns your Dell SonicWALL into a complete security and productivity platform.

Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention, and Application Intelligence and Control.

CGSS includes the Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention, and Application Intelligence and Control Service to deliver intelligent, real-time network security protection against the latest blended threats, including viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, software vulnerabilities and other malicious code. Application Intelligence and Control provides granular control and real-time visualization of applications to guarantee bandwidth prioritization and ensure maximum network security and productivity.

Content Filtering Service.

The Dell SonicWALLContent Filtering Service uses an innovative dynamic database to block objectionable Web content. Increasing protection and productivity for businesses and schools, The Content Filtering Service combines application-based policy enforcement with comprehensive content filtering in a cost-effective, easy-to-manage solution. It caches URL, IP address and domain ratings locally on the firewall, reducing response time to frequently visited sites to a fraction of a second. Administrators can control bandwidth based upon Content Filtering Service rating, as well as specific IP addresses, sites—or even applications by using Application Intelligence and Control.

ViewPoint Reporting Software.

Dell SonicWALL ViewPoint reporting software gives administrators instant insight into network security status through easy-to-understand real-time and historical reports on a comprehensive set of monitored functions.

ViewPoint is only available for older devices and is not included as part of the Comprehensive Gateway Security Suite for Supermassive, NSA 220, NSA 250M and newer appliances.

Dynamic Support 24x7

  • Designed for customers who need advanced technical support and additional benefits of ongoing software and firmware updates, Dell SonicWALL Dynamic Support 24x7 is an around-the clock service that includes:
  • Telephone and Web-based support 24x7
  • Direct access to a team of highly trained senior support engineers (available for E-class support)
  • Advance exchange hardware replacement in the event of failure
  • Access to Dell SonicWALL electronic support tools

The Dell™ SonicWALL™ Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention, and Application Intelligence and Control Service delivers intelligent, real-time network security protection against sophisticated attacks. Available on every Dell SonicWALL firewall, patented Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection™ technology delivers protection from malware, intrusions and application exploits. Additionally, with the proliferation of Web 2.0 and social networking technologies for both work and personal use, Dell SonicWALL provides intelligence, control and visualization of network and application usage, with granular policies that can be created for both users and groups.

Gateway Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware inspection.

Every day, Trojans, spyware, viruses and other malware threats become more sophisticated, and now have the ability to circle the entire globe in a matter of minutes. To complicate matters, many of these threats are blended, originating from multiple sources, operating at multiple layers, utilizing multiple protocols. Moreover, they are delivered via Instant Messaging (IM), peer-to-peer (P2P), file sharing, games or other seemingly benign applications that are not scanned by traditional client anti-virus solutions. Small wonder then, that today's complex threats require a solution that goes beyond the status quo.

Network Diagram: Gateway Anti-Virus

The Dell SonicWALL Gateway Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware service inspects all email file attachments, ftp downloads, and real-time applications such as IM and P2P for total file-based threat control. Unlike other solutions, Dell SonicWALL RFDPI analyzes all files in real time—regardless of file size or compression—and generates proactive alerts that notify administrators whenever a threat is detected. Day-zero attacks are prevented with dynamically updated databases and an extensive list of virus and malware signatures. And, because all threats are blocked at the gateway, users are completely prevented from downloading malware in the first place. In addition, Dell SonicWALL prevents auto-installation of ActiveX components (one of the most common sources of spyware) and stops any existing spyware programs from communicating with their hosts.

Intrusion Prevention.

Application vulnerabilities, buffer overflows and blended threats can open up your network to exploits, making intrusion prevention a necessary technology. Dell SonicWALL goes a step beyond traditional solutions by scanning all network traffic for worms, Trojans, software vulnerabilities, backdoor exploits, and other types of malicious attacks. Utilizing a comprehensive signature database, the Dell SonicWALL Intrusion Prevention Service (IPS) engine protects against an array of network-based application vulnerabilities and exploits. Deployed to protect against both internal and external threats, Dell SonicWALL IPS monitors the network for malicious or anomalous traffic, then blocks or logs traffic based on predefined and automatically updated conditions. By focusing on known malicious traffic, Dell SonicWALL IPS decreases false positives while increasing network reliability and performance.

Application Intelligence, Control and Visualization.

Dell SonicWALL Application Intelligence and Control provides granular control and real-time visualization of applications to guarantee bandwidth prioritization and ensure maximum network security and productivity. A tightly integrated feature of Dell SonicWALL Next-Generation Firewalls, it uses Dell SonicWALL Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection™ to identify and control applications, regardless of port or protocol. With a continuously expanding signature database currently recognizing over 2,800 applications and millions of malware threats, it can maintain granular control over applications, prioritize or throttle bandwidth and deny Web site access. The Dell SonicWALL Application Flow Monitor provides real-time graphs of applications, ingress and egress bandwidth, active Website connections and user activity.

Dell™ SonicWALL™ Content Filtering Service (CFS) helps organizations and educational institutions enforce their productivity and protection policies and block inappropriate, illegal and dangerous Web content. Featuring a dynamic rating and caching architecture, Dell SonicWALL CFS blocks multiple categories of objectionable Web content and provides the ideal combination of control and flexibility to ensure the highest levels of productivity and protection. Data is forwarded directly to the Dell SonicWALL ViewPoint™ reporting package, delivering a high level of network visibility through graphs, charts and data search functionality. And as an added benefit, Dell SonicWALL content filtering is configured and controlled from the appliance, eliminating the need for a costly, dedicated filtering server.

An easy to manage solution.

Dell SonicWALL CFS combines application-based policy enforcement with comprehensive content filtering, in a cost-effective, easy-to-manage solution. URLs, IP addresses and domain ratings are locally on the firewall, reducing response time to frequently visited sites to a fraction of a second. Administrators can control bandwidth based upon Content Filtering Service rating, as well as specific IP addresses, sites—or even applications when combined with Dell SonicWALL Application Intelligence and Control.

Ideal for small to large organizations.

Dell SonicWALL CFS is deployed in a wide variety of organizations, including business enterprises, universities, libraries and government agencies, as well as distributed public Internet "hotspots." Ease of management, scalability and superior performance make CFS an ideal solution for larger enterprises with complex configuration requirements.

Mitigating risks of unrestricted access.

Dell SonicWALL CFS helps reduce the risks incurred by not restricting employees, students, or other users from accessing websites that are inappropriate or offensive, especially when there is a legal responsibility and obligation to keep the workplace free from offensive material. In addition, unrestricted access drains productivity by promoting wasteful Web surfing. Unrestricted access often leads to infection by viruses, spyware and malware, since many of the sites that are contained in blocked categories are common sources of malicious attacks. Installing a content filtering solution can eliminate these and other problems.

Flexibility and policy enforcement.

Administrators are free to create local or enterprise-wide policies that are specifically designed to meet their own requirements and legislative mandates. The dynamic rating architecture can be used to block up to 56 categories of objectionable or inappropriate Web content, providing a high level of transparent control, ease of administration and granular policy enforcement. The local URL filtering feature adds flexibility by letting administrators go beyond categories to block or allow specific domains or hosts. Policies can be applied to individuals or defined groups (e.g., students and faculty) and set to block automatically downloadable files or apply filtering by time of day.

Caching and performance.

Dell SonicWALL CFS is built around a website caching and rating architecture that allows administrators to block sites automatically by category for easier administration. The caching feature stores URL ratings locally on the Dell SonicWALL firewall, so response time is only a fraction of a second. In addition to filtering offensive Web content, CFS helps enhance performance by filtering out download sites for MP3s, streaming media, freeware and other files that consume tremendous amounts of bandwidth and are often the source of spyware and other malware.

Compliance and regulations.

A number of legislated regulations contain content filtering requirements that can be met using Dell SonicWALL CFS. For example, the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires all schools and libraries that receive eRate funding to install content filtering. The flexibility of CFS, and the ability to set custom policies for different groups or different times of day, makes it ideal for educational settings. In addition, the reporting necessary to comply with these mandates can be fulfilled by Dell SonicWALL's Global Management System (GMS) and ViewPoint reporting package.

In addition to external regulation compliance, CFS is an integral part of internal compliance programs designed to reduce the liabilities that may incur when inappropriate content is allowed into the network. When Web access is unrestricted, not only is the result counter-productive, it can also result in costly lawsuits.

Visibility and reporting.

Dell SonicWALL ViewPoint reporting software along with Dell SonicWALL CFS can allow customers to run granular reports summarizing Web access details. Both real-time and historical reports can be easily customized and delivered in a variety of formats. In addition to comprehensive graphical reports, users also can take advantage of "at-a-glance" reporting.

How it works.

Dell SonicWALL CFS is based on a rating architecture that relies on a dynamic database to block objectionable or inappropriate websites. CFS cross-references all websites as they are requested against a vast and highly accurate database of URLs, IP addresses and domains. The Dell SonicWALL appliance then receives a rating in real time, and compares that rating to the local policy setting. The appliance will then either allow or deny the request, based on locally configured policy.

Dell SonicWALL CFS has categorized over 20 million URLs, IP addresses and domains in a continuously updated, dynamically rated database, with thousands more added daily. Because the ratings are determined both by artificial intelligence and human observation, the database is highly accurate and the instance of false positives is minimized. The policy-based system allows the administrator to block all pre-defined categories or any combination of categories, and to apply these policies on a granular level. For example, if one group of users requires access to sites typically found within one category, this level of access can be granted while still denying access to other users.

Categories range from offensive types of content such as "Violence," which would include anti-social websites that advocate use of weapons or explosives, to sites that may not be offensive but would otherwise cause a potential risk to the network in terms of bandwidth usage, such as "Software downloads" or "Streaming Media/MP3."

Administrators require deep intelligence about network utilization and user activity without having to sift through large amounts of data. Dell  SonicWALL ViewPoint reporting software graphically illustrates network activity, such as bandwidth utilization, VPN reporting, threats observed, Web site usage, and more.  Keeping compliant with external mandates such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA using ViewPoint’s customized reporting features is simple. All reports are comprehensive and easy to read, providing insight into usage trends and security events that, can be easily distributed.

ViewPoint is only available for older devices and is not included as part of the Comprehensive Gateway Security Suite for Supermassive, NSA 220, NSA 250M and newer appliances.

For newer appliances please look to the Dell  SonicWALL Analyzer product for reporting and analytics capabilities.  Analyzer is not included with the Comprehensive Gateway Security Suite.

Convenient interface.

ViewPoint software comes with a convenient dashboard that is highly customizable to suit your specific needs. With “at-a-glance” reporting that shows multiple summaries on a single page, you can easily drill down for more detail to analyze data across multiple reports.

Graphical reports.

All Dell SonicWALL appliances, over both wired and wireless networks, send information to the ViewPoint software. This information is then transformed into reports that are easy to understand, highly customizable, and available in multiple formats. The configurable reports include information on any firewall attacks, details on bandwidth usage, Web site visits and user activity, all providing greater visibility into both productivity and suspicious activity.

Compliance.

ViewPoint reports can assist in preparation for regulatory audits or regular reporting needs. Because the reporting function is highly customizable, it is possible to create reports that fulfill very specific compliance requirements. Reports can be set to run on a scheduled basis, or can be generated ad hoc at any time. Reports can also be saved as templates for future use.

Easy and secure access.

Multiple users can log in simultaneously, to generate reports that are specific to their own needs and responsibilities. In addition, because ViewPoint is accessed through an ordinary Web browser, administrators can access all of the reporting functions from any location. Of course, access to reports is always secure and based on secure access protocols.
