Disaster Recovery Software and Services Universal System Recovery
Each minute of downtime in today’s business environment is money wasted. Whether an entire network, a single server or a workstation is lost, the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) always needs to be immediate. During a serious business disruption, when minimizing downtime is crucial for retaining customer satisfaction and service levels, administrators cannot afford taking the time to acquire, rebuild or configure matching systems.
In order to rapidly get needed business systems back up and running, administrators must to be able to recover an entire computer disk image easily to any other available machine that is on hand.
Dell™ SonicWALL™ Continuous Data Protection (CDP) Universal System Recovery1 for Server or Workstation software combines industry-leading Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) with Universal Restore capabilities to recover entire workstation and/or server systems to identical or dissimilar platforms. When deployed in combination with a Dell SonicWALL CDP Offsite Data Backup Service, Dell SonicWALL Universal System Recovery delivers an easy-to-use comprehensive multi-level disaster recovery solution.
Simple, fast recovery of whole systems.
Administrators can restore an entire PC or server, including the operating system, applications and user settings, without having to relocate and reinstall any original software.
Universal restoration to identical or dissimilar platforms.
IT can restore a disk image to readily available hardware, in either physical or virtual environments, reducing costs by requiring fewer hot spares.
Fast migration options.
Complete physical-virtual, virtual-physical, or virtual-virtual migrations are available for system recovery, testing and other purposes.
Integration with CDP.
Administrators can create, transmit and store a complete system image directly on to the CDP appliance by enabling the Dell SonicWALL CDP appliance as an FTP server to allow read/write operations, and then using the Dell SonicWALL CDP System Recovery Tool wizard. IT can recover images directly from the CDP appliance to the restored system.
Comprehensive driver support.
Driver support helps ensure that the bootable rescue media supports new hardware and legacy systems alike.
Bootable rescue media.
Created on CD or USB flash key, bootable rescue media eliminates the need to locate additional CDs and floppies and contains everything required to begin restoration of the system.
Exact images of entire drives or any set of partitions.
This feature helps administrators avoid the time-consuming task of locating application CDs and registration codes to reinstall programs with exact images available.
Unique open-file snapshot technology.
Snapshots render an exact image without shutting down a system, closing most applications or interrupting operations.
Individual file and folder restoration.
Administrators do not need to restore the whole partition or disk, and can restore non-system partitions without a reboot.
Sector-by-sector “raw image” capability.
This capability allows imaging of not only sectors with data, but also sectors that are free. Thus, it includes all sectors of a partition in the image and restores them whether or not they are directly supported by Dell SonicWALL CDP Universal System Recovery or corrupted.
VSS Snapshot Service.
VSS safely suspends all application and cache activity during data capture to ensure reliable backup of dynamic database applications, such as Microsoft® Exchange, SQL® and Oracle®.
Flexibly mounted BMR images.
Administrators can mount images in read-only mode or to a file system as a virtual drive, permitting users to open, create, save, copy, move and delete backed up files or folders.
Support for BartPE and WinPE.
This feature enables the booting of servers and workstations via a network PXE, CD-ROM, DVD or USB drive.
