Matt Medeiros, President and CEO

Matt Medeiros serves as the President and CEO of SonicWALL. Since joining SonicWALL, Mr. Medeiros has steered the company in growth through an aggressive acquisition strategy, positioning SonicWALL as a leader in the Unified Threat Management industry for both SMB and Enterprise organizations. He has driven international growth and elevated SonicWALL as the new alternative vendor to high priced complex network solutions. Prior to joining SonicWALL, Mr. Medeiros served as President and CEO of Philips Components. As the chief architect of the liquid crystal display (LCD) joint venture between Philips Electronics and LG Electronics, Mr. Medeiros established Philips as a leader in flat displays. Before Philips, Mr. Medeiros was Vice President and General Manager for the Optical Polymers Group, and Vice President of business development for the Electronic Materials division of AlliedSignal. Mr. Medeiros also has extensive background in PC manufacturing, operations and materials management following executive positions at Radius, NeXT Computer and Apple Computer. Mr. Medeiros graduated from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor's degree in business administration in management science.

Robert D. Selvi, Chief Financial Officer

Robert D. Selvi has 25 years of experience in senior financial management roles at leading technology companies. Mr. Selvi's chief financial officer experience started at Claris Corporation, followed by Cooper & Chyan Technology and Artisan Components. Most recently, Mr. Selvi served as CFO of Kontiki, an enterprise software company where he managed the company through two rounds of venture financing.

Prior to joining Kontiki, Mr. Selvi served as the Vice President and CFO of Artisan Components, a pioneer in semiconductor intellectual property. During his tenure, he developed the operating plan, systems and administrative functions to prepare the company for IPO, which was completed in early 1998. The company's annual revenue increased 86% and net income increased over 200% during this period. Prior to Artisan, Mr. Selvi was Vice President and CFO of Cooper and Chyan Technology ("CCT"), an electronic design automation ("EDA") software company. While at CCT, he also led strategic acquisitions. During his tenure, the company launched an integrated circuit product business, more than doubled revenue and realized a tenfold value increase. Prior to CCT, Mr. Selvi was the Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations and CFO of Claris Corporation from 1992 - 1995, a wholly owned subsidiary of Apple Computer.

Mr. Selvi currently serves on the Board of eSilicon Corporation, Sunnyvale, CA, and serves on the advisory board of Santa Clara University, Leavey School of Business. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and a Masters in Business Administration, each from Santa Clara University.

Douglas Brockett, Vice President and General Manager

As the Vice President and General Manager, Douglas Brockett brings to SonicWALL a broad range of product development and technology expertise. Prior to joining SonicWALL, Mr. Brockett was the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Nexsi Systems, an early-stage Internet security company. Before joining Nexsi, Mr. Brockett held vice president positions in business development and system integration services with BBN and GTE Internetworking. Mr. Brockett holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Harvard University.

Marvin Blough, Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Marvin Blough is the Vice President, Worldwide Sales for SonicWALL. Mr. Blough has held previous executive sales positions at SonicWALL including most recently Vice President, Americas Sales; and Vice President, EMEA Region. Prior to joining SonicWALL, Mr. Blough was Vice President of OEM and Strategic Sales at Phobos Corporation before the company was acquired by SonicWALL in October 2000. Mr. Blough grew his career over a ten-year period at Novell and before moving to Phobos, holding the position of sales director for the Northern California region. Prior to joining Novell, Mr. Blough worked in sales at Moore Business Systems, United Technologies and Xerox Corporation. Mr. Blough has 20 years of technology sales and marketing experience and holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business from Virginia Tech. 

Steve Franzese, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing

Prior to joining SonicWALL, Steve Franzese was Senior Vice President of Strategy and Chief Marketing Officer for Philips Components where he drove customer-focused innovation to deliver value-based solutions. He played a key role in the negotiations with LGE leading up to the formation of the LG.Philips LCD joint venture. Before Philips, Mr. Franzese was Palm, Inc.'s first vice president of eMarketing. He steered the company Web site which emerged as the number one location for PDA software downloads and thus enabled Palm to participate in this profitable recurring revenue stream. Mr. Franzese also spent ten years at Apple Computer, eventually becoming Vice President of Interactive Marketing where he led the company's multimedia and online initiatives, including the company's much-lauded endeavors in interactive shopping and its ground-breaking live event Webcasting. Prior to his Silicon Valley experience, Mr. Franzese spent ten years at GE working in Corporate Strategy and also in marketing and general management positions in GE Lighting.

Mr. Franzese has an MBA in marketing from Columbia University. A native New Yorker, Mr. Franzese also holds a BS from Columbia University School of Engineering & Applied Science.

John Gmuender, Vice President of Engineering

John Gmuender has over 18 years of software and hardware engineering experience including 10 years of startup and corporate management. Mr. Gmuender came to SonicWALL with the acquisition of SecureCom Networks, the startup he founded and led as CEO and VP of Engineering, which delivered the company's secure communication appliance to market and booked first revenue in 9 months. Prior to SecureCom Networks, Mr. Gmuender led his engineering and networking consulting company, GUM, providing detailed engineering expertise on L1-L7 networking hardware and software, TCP/IP stack and driver optimization, and network security protocols to many companies including JMA/Network Translation, the developer of the PIX firewall prior to its acquisition by Cisco.

During his career, Mr. Gmuender has held management and engineering roles in the development of x86 and Sparc microprocessors at Cyrix and Fujitsu/HaL Computer Systems respectively, and began his career at IBM in the Communications Division. Mr. Gmuender has several patents and publications in both hardware and software, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Dawn Thompson, Vice President of Human Resources

Dawn Thompson brings over 20 years of human resources management experience to SonicWALL, with a focus on global, high-growth companies. Ms. Thompson has extensive experience in global growth and retention programs, worldwide management and employee development, and merger and acquisition integration. Prior to SonicWALL, Ms. Thompson was the Vice President of Human Resources for Zoran Corporation, a leading provider of digital solutions-on-a-chip for applications in the consumer electronics and digital imaging markets. Before Zoran Corporation, Ms. Thompson was the Vice President of Human Resources at AdForce, Inc. Previous positions include the Vice President of Human Resources and Administration at Radius, Inc., Director of Human Resources at SGI and Director of Human Resources at Tandem Computers (now Hewlett Packard). Ms. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Sheffield University in England.
