Clicking on the Companies icon provides access to the Companies allowed and blocked lists as shown below. For the purposes of this discussion, you can assume that the term domain (as in domain name) is the same as Companies. Users can view the companies (domain names) that have been added to each list and add or remove entries as desired.
How the Companies Allowed List Works
When you add a company to your Companies allowed list, you are telling SonicWALL Anti-Spam Desktop (ASD) that you want to always receive email sent to you from anyone at that company. If ASD receives an email that is from anyone at a company listed on your Companies allowed list that email will be delivered to you even if ASD judges the email to be spam or phishing.
Three Warnings About Using Your Companies Allowed List
- Remember any email from anyone (real or fake) from a company listed in your Companies allowed list will be delivered to your Inbox.
- Spammers often spoof or fake the sending email address by using fake names of people at real companies – perhaps a company listed on your Companies allowed list.
- Never add the name of your own company or your email ISP to the Companies allowed list – spammers will often use your company name as the sender of the email.
How the Company Blocked List Works
When you add a company to your Companies block list, you are telling SonicWALL Anti-Spam Desktop (ASD) that you want to always block email sent to you from this company – everyone at that company. If ASD receives an email from anyone at a company on your Companies blocked list that email will always be placed in your Junk folder even if ASD judges the email to be good.
One Exception
When an email is received, the entries in your People allowed/blocked lists will take precedence over Companies allowed/blocked lists entries. For example, if the email address abc@example.com is on your People allowed list, but the company of example.com is listed on your Companies blocked list – you will receive this email because the People allowed list will override the Companies blocked list.
How to ADD Someone to Your Companies Allowed List
- Click on the Add button.
- Enter the company into the screen that comes up – it must be in the form of a valid domain name.
- Click OK.
How to REMOVE Someone from Your Companies Allowed List
- Select company (domain name).
- Click on the Remove button.
- The company name is immediately removed from the list.

- Click on the Block tab.
- Click on the Add button.
- Enter the company into the screen that comes up – it must be in the form of a valid domain name.
- Click OK.

- Select address (domain name).
- Click on the Remove button.
