Global Management System (GMS)

CENTRALISED SECURITY, POLICY AND NETWORK MANAGEMENT

Centralised security and network management is achieved using a single console to deploy, manage and monitor a distributed networked environment and policies from any location. Administrators can now define, distribute, enforce and deploy service and security policies ranging from a single site to thousands of distributed SonicWALL appliances. Sophisticated VPN deployment and configuration enables distributed enterprise networks to reduce the administration time, costs and complexity associated with establishing and maintaining corporate security policies, VPN connectivity and network configurations. For service providers, it allows for customized security polices across thousands of managed customers, providing greater efficiency in delivering an SLA. Furthermore, a built-in license manager displays a unified console for storing, applying, tracking and updating security license information for managed SonicWALL appliances, thereby simplifying the inventory for managing security and support license subscriptions.

ACTIVE DEVICE MONITORING AND ALERTING

Active device monitoring and alerting services supply real-time alerts allowing administrators to take preventative action and deliver immediate remediation. SonicWALL's native SNMP application provides a powerful, real-time alerting mechanism for all TCP/IP and SNMP-enabled devices and applications, thus greatly enhancing the ability to pinpoint and respond to critical network evenalerting levels can be configured to suit any SLA. Configurable thresholds measure, inform, or warn of a triggered event based on predefined criticality. The monitoring services support active monitoring of heterogeneous network devices that include both SonicWALL and non-SonicWALL devices such as routers, switches, and Mail/Web/FTP servers.

INTELLIGENT REPORTING AND ACTIVITY VISUALIZATION

SonicWALL's Reporting platform allows IT teams to further understand the bandwidth, user browse times, website visits, and VPN usage patterns of the end-users protected by SonicWALL appliances. With the capability to trend data from days to months, IT staff members can then take action to optimize traffic, isolate rogue hosts on network segments, pinpoint traffic patterns isolated to just a simple user or a network appliance, and follow up with custom or group policies that adhere to company guidelines. All reports are exportable to a variety of formats that can be emailed or securely archived to a file server. SonicWALL Reporting also provides features that enable the customization of reports with personalised corporate logos and colors, delivering a cohesive branding.

Centralised EVENT LOGGING

Centralised logging provides a central location for consolidating security events and logs across thousands of SonicWALL appliances, allowing for a single point to conduct network forensics. Granular filters can isolate individual users or groups, their destinations, and services used. Storage capabilities facilitate archival functions of historical logs dating back to the installation date of the management platform.

OFFLINE MANAGEMENT

Policy management and the execution of reports do not need to take place immediately. With SonicWALL's offline management capabilities, scheduled configurations and/or firmware updates on managed appliances can occur off-hours to minimize service disruptions to end users and customers.

ViewPoint

COMPREHENSIVE GRAPHICAL REPORTING

Comprehensive graphical reporting includes firewall thwarted attacks, bandwidth usage, Web site visits, user activity, providing visibility into suspicious activity and employee productivity. A customizable dashboard view illustrates multiple summary reports on a single page and allows users to navigate to vital network metrics to quickly analyze data across a variety of reports.

Compliance Reporting

Compliance reporting gives administrators the capability to generate and view reports that fulfill compliance requirements. Delivered both on an ad-hoc and scheduled basis, these reports can be saved as templates for future use and customized for specific corporate regulatory mandates such as PCI, SOX, HIPPA, or GLBA.

MULTI-THREAT REPORTING

Collect information on thwarted attacks and get instant access to threat activity on SonicWALL Network Security Appliances using the Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention Service. In addition, SonicWALL Reporting offers more granular feedback on the type of attack or intrusion, as well as the source of the attack, enabling administrators to react faster to oncoming threats. The value of SonicWALL's live security subscription, which is updated hourly, is evident with the aid of multi-threat reporting.

USAGE BEHAVIOR

User-based reporting tracks users' activities locally or on remote network sites, resulting in a greater understanding of usage behavior across the entire enterprise. Employee productivity can be monitored through easy-to-use tools that trace every Web site through a SonicWALL appliance. Furthermore, the reports can isolate services used during a session and record the employees activity over any given day or time. Product losses can be isolated to services, users, or machines sitting inside a network.

MULTIPLE CONCURRENT SESSIONS

Web-based access simplifies reporting logins by allowing administrators to view all reporting functions from any location using a standard Web browser. For example, multiple users can log in and generate reports simultaneously on the system, yielding greater flexibility without having to compromise performance.
